The Power of Place: Rural Descriptive Representation and Policy Support (with Lukas K. Alexander)

Using an original survey experiment, we find that rural Americans exhibit greater support for legislation and perceive it as more beneficial to rural communities when proposed by state representatives who share their rural identity.

"If Foreign, Then Cleaner": Individual Corruption Perceptions and Support for Free Trade in Developing Nations (with Guillermo Rosas)

Do perceptions of domestic corruption shape public opinion on free trade? We find such effects in developing nations. Positive views of foreign countries and firms are mediators. Results show a “foreignness cue” drives support.
